I know, I know, that reverse chronological sorting is an algorithm. I have a PhD in Comp Sci, I am aware.
However, I think it's pretty obvious that when people say "there's no algorithm" they are referring to something that processes the content and engagement data of posts along with the activity of the user in order to weight how posts are shown
To lay folks, the technical meaning of the word algorithm is not important, and people who are involved in CS know the technical definition of an algorithm so they're not likely to become confused.
It is okay for jargon to be used imprecisely in casual contexts sometimes.
