The beehind beegins
It’s been a while since I last touched the Blender sculpting tools, but grabbing a default cube, using R and Ctrl+R and playing with the brushes a bit and it actually looks like it’s shaping up pretty well, I think!
Not shown: me editing the mini-canine base so I could hide the tail for this
After some retopology, texture work, and rigging, the abdomen segment has been made real
most of the hours in the morning were dedicated to fighting unity and the export scripts but we made it work!

Update: we now have a normal map generated from the high-poly sculpt and baked lighting
yes it stands out compared to the base texture but I kinda like it? it’s got some contrast going on
as a bonus, see just how few rectangles I could get away with
