So, closing thoughts on Super Metroid Redesign now I’ve completed it on stream!
- The physics really are too heavy for most players going in, since it leaves little time to respond to mistakes during platforming, which wastes a lot of time.
- Mistakes too often lead to killing the player outright, which leads to trial by error, notably Norfair heat run (infamously the 25 minute escape when your abilities get taken away).
- Standard individual ammo packs don’t feel very rewarding since they give so little. It’s made up by having variants that give you more, but early on tends to make players want to hoard ammo even if it would make more sense to at least use missiles.
- Water physics combined with physics in general make it really difficult to navigate until acquiring Gravity Suit.
- Fighting Draygon in a room filled with quicksand is mean.
- Avoiding MB2’s ketchup attack is really difficult thanks to physics.
- Some of the optional items are (almost) impossible to get since they require extremely tight timing on IBJ which the hack never teaches you.

chaoticlawSome people have a Discord mention to ping when they go live.
I put my streams into my calendar service so you can import it into your calendar app like Thunderbird, or Google Calendar, or even Outlook if you really wanted to (why).
Copy the URL https://chaoticlaw.com/stream/schedule to your calendar app. Make sure that you use the “On the Network” option if you have it, else you’ll just see what I have currently on the calendar and it won’t auto-update!
(Of course this depends on my ability to start a stream on time, so we’ll see how that pans out…)

nimonomiyoa@meow.socialI took some time a while back to make representations of what I think the Metroid Fusion powerups would look like if they were items instead of exclusively downloads or X-Parasites. Mostly "hey they're upgraded from Super Metroid" since that's how the fake Morph Ball and unused Beam icons were! (As well as the Chozo Statue-X)
Could use some work, though- the missiles and Power Bombs are quite small for powerups, especially compared to the Tanks!
